The Rolling Loud Hip-Hop festival took place this weekend in New York City from October 12th and 13th at Citi Field, bringing together some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop together.
Some artists did not make it to the festival stage due to the New York City Police Department interference. Reports claim the five rappers banned from performing was allegedly involved in gang activities.
According to TMZ, "The New York City Police Department requests that the below individuals be removed from performing at the 'Rolling Loud Festival' taking place at Citi Field on Saturday October 12, 2019 and Sunday October 13, 2019, due to public safety concerns."
The rappers removed from the lineup included: Casanova, Pop Smoke, Sheff G, Don Q and 22GZ due to their alleged gang affiliation.
“The above listed performers have been associated with recent acts of violence citywide,” NYPD Chief Martin Morales wrote to Rolling Loud crew. “The New York City Police Department believes if these individuals are allowed to perform, there will be a higher risk of violence.”
The co-founder of the festival Tariq Cherif took to Twitter to discuss the rapper's removal. "I can’t speak on this much but I want everyone to know that we are still paying all of those artists full booking fees AND sending them offers for future Rolling Loud’s in other cities."
We're sad to see these rappers go but there's always next year.
