Today, The Breakfast Club celebrated an iconic black television series “A Different World”! The show turned 35 this year, Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison let us in on all the behind the scenes of the ups and downs! “A Different World” was TV series in the late 90’s that was a spin off of Denise Huxtable from the Cosbey Show, going to college. This fictional historically black college in Virginia otherwise known as “Hillman College”, lead many black children to purse higher education from Historically Black College’s/ Universities (HBCU). What made this show so iconic is that it provided a different perspective that black students wouldn’t receive from prominently white institutions.  This was the first time in television history, that black people were seen outside of their traditional roles and changed the narrative to educated college students. DJ Envy even shared on the show, “A Different World” is the one of the main reasons why he attended Hampton University a HBCU!

This interview did it for the culture! Jasmine and Kadeem spoke on their starts in the business, Duane and Whitley’s chemistry, Tupac and so much more! The interview was full laughs, hard truths and Champagne! Nothing was off limits, watch the full interview above for more!
