Bay Swag Talks Pain, Purpose & Going Diamond With Angie Martinez

Bay Swag pulled up to the Power 105.1 studios for an unfiltered sit-down with Angie Martinez, and let’s just say he did not hold back. The Queens native chopped it up about his new album Damaged Thoughts, the chaos and celebration around its release, and the real-life pain and purpose that fuels his music.

From the jump, Bay came through with his signature honesty and energy. He recapped his album release night, which went down at Nautical Mile and turned into a strip club tour across the city. “It was a movie,” he laughed, “but I was still up early the next morning working.”

A Project with Purpose

Storm Damage is more than an album title it’s Bay’s life story in motion. He revealed for the first time that his mother beat breast cancer, while his father is currently incarcerated. “That’s what keeps me going. I rap for the ones who can’t speak and the ones who raised me.”jessie murph

Using music as therapy, Bay said the project is a mix of pain, ambition, and growth with a feature list that proves he’s playing in the big leagues: Meek Mill, Quavo, A Boogie, 42 Dugg, and more show up across the tracklist.

Viral Drama & Real-Life Energy

Bay also got into the T’d Up app drama, an anonymous platform that exposed some wild personal details. “I had to become my own detective,” he said. “People was talking crazy, but it just reminded me to stay locked in.”

He shared that his real superpower is reading energy. “I’ve never been wrong,” he told Angie confidently. But don’t come around him with bad breath he called that his ultimate pet peeve: “Ain’t no excuse, go to the dentist!”

Reset, Reloaded & Ready

Before dropping Storm Damage, Bay scrubbed his entire Instagram. “I needed a fresh start. I’m not the same artist I was last year,” he said, adding that the project rollout came with a full-on visual and branding rebrand, including a documentary now in the works.

He also joined Angie for a fun round of “Check It or Let It Slide,” weighing in on AI rap beefs, messy breakups, and what he’d never tolerate in real life.

Oh and if you catch Bay at karaoke, expect him to shut it down with Mario’s “Let Me Love You.” “That’s my go-to every time,” he laughed, and yeshe’s done it at private events.

What’s Next?

Bay says his biggest dream is to go diamond, following in the footsteps of legends like Jay-Z, Drake, and OutKast. And from the way he’s moving, it’s not far off.
