JT Gets Into Therapy, Solo Career, Toxic Twitter + More with Angie Martinez

Rapper JT, known for her dynamic role in the City Girls, recently sat down with Angie Martinez on her radio show for a heartfelt and revealing interview. The two shared a moment that took Angie into "Big Sis" mode which was JT's appearance on Angie's IRL Podcast. JT reflected on the impact of that moment, saying, "They loved me more after that interview... you’re really therapeutic... my Mom loved it, but my cousins said don't do that no more... my mom doesn't mind… she’s very, very saved."

JT disclosed her experiences with seeking therapy after appearing on Angie’s IRL podcast. She revealed that her therapy journey hit a roadblock when the therapist requested a donation upon being hired. However, she noted, “It wasn’t a bad experience,” indicating that the process still held some value for her.

Discussing her current career status, JT shared, "I’m working like a new artist because I’m re-introducing myself... it ain't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. I’m not a new artist at all." Despite the challenges of navigating a solo career, she expressed excitement and joy in this new chapter. "I just always think I was fire, I was always fire. I love it... it’s a good feeling... I’m having so much fun... it’s been nothing but love and support overall.”

JT’s appreciation for New York City was evident as she praised the city’s support, "NY goes very hard." She also highlighted her charity initiative, 'No Bars Reform,' which provides resources for formerly incarcerated women. “They were very happy when I announced it... they just love me... they rally for me.”

Looking ahead, JT stated, "This go around I’m going to make everything count... I’m more so aware of my surroundings, focused on getting where I have to go... I had some great moments." She envisions performing in big arenas, becoming internationally known, and starting a family. On politics, she admitted, “I haven’t watched the news in forever; everything I'm seeing is on my phone.”

JT was candid about her social media experiences, describing Twitter as “sooo ghetto... I’m so deep on Stan Twitter... it’s just not genuine, Twitter is crazy there’s no limit. I can do without Twitter. I support it though, but I don't like it, it’s mentally abusive.” Conversely, she praised her Instagram feed as “chef’s kiss.”

For self-care, JT emphasizes the importance of surrounding herself with people who have her best interests at heart and staying focused on her work. + JT get "In My Bag'
