Since becoming a musical media mogul, P Diddy has consistently put his money where his mouth is. Recently, he announced the opening of his third Captial Preparatory School, set to open in the Bronx in New York. It was only in 2016 that Diddy linked with Educator Dr. Steve Perry to open the first two charter schools to Capital Prep series, one located in Connecticut and the other in Harlem, New York.
Via Instagram, Diddy announced that the most upcoming Bronx school is set to open in 2019. The Bronx hits close to home for Diddy, as he grew up in nearby Mount Vernon.
“Education is my passion,” says Diddy. His focus in opening these charter schools has always been is to provide more than just education to these communities. While education is the core foundation, the prep schools offer courses that focus on real life issues for real life kids in communities. For instance, some courses will focus on social justice, and preparing the students with career readiness skills.
“I know from my own experience that receiving a great education makes a huge impact on a child’s future. I want our kids to have access to everything they need to succeed, in school and life,”
It has only become more apparent over the years that Diddy has continued to re-define the term “value”. Diddy has always been at the forefront of his game, and it’s endearing to see him provide a platform filled with love and money for these less fortunate communities. We await the opening of his third Capital Prep School in the Bronx, as well as his future philanthropic endeavors.
