#HispanicHeritageMonth Rapper Spotlight: Dave East

Hispanic Heritage Month isn't over just yet as we spotlight some of the most influential Hispanic rappers in the game!

Harlem's own, Dave East a.k.a David Lawrence Brewster, Jr. was born in New York City and spent most of his life between East Harlem and Queensbridge. He is of Barbadian and Dominican descent.

In 2014, his music reached all the way up to his favorite rapper Nas who quickly looked for ways to contact him. It's funny how the world works because Dave East was close friends with Nas' younger brother and fellow rapper Jungle who quickly introduced the two. Dave went on All Def Digital and stated that meeting Nas was the one and only time he was star struck.

Dave East's pen game is impeccable, but he has also been on television. He was featured in the hit TV show "Being Mary Jane." He later appeared in Puma's Tsugi Shinsei commercial. He has also been nominated for a BMI Social Star Award last year.

Things are just heating up for Dave East, be on the lookout!
