Last week people were blown away at the loss of designer, Kate Spade, and Chef/TV Personality, Anthony Bourdain. Both were found with the same cause of death: Suicide. Many have voiced their concerns, requesting that anyone who is feeling lost or having any sad thoughts should reach out to someone to listen to how they are feeling during those dark times. Nowadays, that's all we're looking for; Someone to listen.

Monday, June 11th, Jada Pinkett Smith posted a tribute photo of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain side by side. The caption beneath the photo is what drew the attention of her followers, and now you. In the caption Smith shares a heartfelt message stating:

Jada;

"One thing I’ve learned in my life over the years is that mental health is something we should practice daily, not just when issues arise. We should take care of our mind and spirit in the same way we do our body. With the suicides of Kate and Anthony it brought up feelings of when I was in such despair and had considered the same demise...often."

After revealing she had her own time of considering suicide, she then goes on to say how she learned that the mind and heart are delicate without a "formidable spirit." Smith provided her followers with some examples of influences that can have control over our mental and physical health stating, "What I eat, what I watch on TV, what music I listen to, how I care for my body, my spiritual practice, what people I surround myself with, the amount of stress I allow and so on... either contribute to or deteriorate my mental health." These are the things we must consider not just for our own benefit, but also for those surrounding us. We want to make sure our loved ones are taking care of themselves just as we should be taking care of ourselves.

Jada Pinkett Smith has shared her piece with the world, sending off a loving RIP to Spade and Bourdain. During these times we must acknowledge everyone's emotional journey through life and consider the many ways we can continue to push positivity through our own lives. Let's always end out our day the same way Mrs. Smith ends her caption; With Love.

Below is her entire post.

One thing I’ve learned in my life over the years is that mental health is something we should practice daily, not just when issues arise. We should take care of our mind and spirit in the same way we do our body. With the suicides of Kate and Anthony it brought up feelings of when I was in such despair and had considered the same demise...often. In the years I spent towards my healing, many moons ago, I realized the mind and heart can be extremely delicate without the foundation of a formidable spirit. What I eat, what I watch on TV, what music I listen to, how I care for my body, my spiritual practice, what people I surround myself with, the amount of stress I allow and so on... either contribute to or deteriorate my mental health. Mental health is a daily practice for me. It’s a practice of deep self-love. May Kate and Anthony Rest In Peace. Many may not understand... but I do, and this morning I have the deepest gratitude that I pulled through. . Love.
