Today marks 18 years since Big Punisher passed away so we've decided to put together some facts may not know about one of the game’s best lyricists to ever do it.

1: Big Pun was born in the Bronx, New York and his government name was Christopher Lee Rios.

2: He moved out of his mother's house at the young age of 15, and was homeless for a period of time in the late 1980s.

3: Pun won a large settlement from the City New York after he broke his leg at a city park when he was 5-years-old.

4: He liked boxing and playing basketball player before becoming a rapper.

5: He formed and was a part of the group Full-a-Clips which included rappers Lyrical Assassin, Joker Jamz and Toom.

6: When Pun first started rapping he went under the name Big Moon Dawg and eventually changed it to Big Punisher.

7: Pun got his rap name from the comic book character Punisher.

8: His debut solo album, Capital Punishment, reached the #5 position on the Billboard 200 charts after it was released in 1998.

9: Big Pun was the first Latin rapper to ever go platinum as a solo act with his album, 'Capital Punishment.'

10: He had three children with his wife Liza Rios and two of them have gone on to become rappers, Chris Rivers and Star Rios.
