Moonlight's co-writer and Director Barry Jenkins has had a successful year of awards and praise for his work; The film 'Moonlight' winning an Oscar award for 'Best Adapted Screen Play' and several other awards and nominations Jenkins is still on the move.
Recently, he announced that he will be working on a limited series that will debut on Amazon based on author Colson Whitehead’s best-selling novel, “The Underground Railroad.” The novel is not based on the late Harriett Tubman. However, it will feature a young woman who is enslaved and in search of the underground railroad stumbles upon an actual underground system that hosts trains, and conductors working beneath the Georgian soil.
Jenkins describes the project as:
“a groundbreaking work that pays respect to our nation’s history while using the form to explore it in a thoughtful and original way".
Currently, a date for the series has not been released, but we're excited to watch another master piece by Mr. Jenkins.
