Netflix just released the trailer for a new series titled Dear White People and yes, the white people are threatening to cancel their Netflix accounts. Many believe the title alone promotes "White Genocide" (like that'll ever happen).
The anticipated and controversial series is based on the 2014 movie "Dear White People" and protesters have taken to social media to vent, creating #NoNetflix on Twitter.
The creator of Dear White People, Justin Siemien, posted on his personal Facebook about the matter and the sudden push back of the series:
He says, “To see the sheer threat that people feel over a date announcement video featuring a woman of color (politely) asking not to be mocked makes it so clear why I made this show.”
To the individuals deleting their Netflix accounts.....maybe Netflix will go back to being $6.99 a month? Sorry, not sorry.
