Fat Joe is taking legal action against his former hypeman after he allegedly spread false accusations about him on social media.
According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, April 29, Joey Crack filed a defamation lawsuit against Terrance "T.A." Dixon after he called Joe a pedophile in social posts. In the lawsuit, the Terror Squad leader and his attorney, Joe Tacopina, said Dixon made the allegation after he and his lawyer, Tyron Blackburn, attempted to demand money from Fat Joe, but failed.
βThese allegations are completely false and part of a criminal conspiracy orchestrated between a disgruntled former hype man and his attorney," Fat Joe told TMZ.
"These two individuals have been scheming together to extort me with their elaborate and ludicrous demands changing by the day," he continued. "The relentless threats, harassment, and defamation Iβve endured as they peddle salacious lies are utterly deplorable. Iβm taking legal action to expose their misconduct and Iβm fully confident that the facts will reveal this is nothing more than a deceptive and desperate scam.β
In the lawsuit, Joe explained that Dixon started working together in 2006 after the "Lean Back" rapper gave him a rare chance to join his team. He said he gave Dixon compensation including luxurious travel and touring opportunities. Their partnership ended without any issues in 2019. Joe didn't hear anything about payment for six years before Dixon recently began complaining that he should've been paid more for his work as a "ghostwriter."
After Dixon hired him earlier this year, Tyron Blackburn sent Joe a letter in March, in which he demanded money for his client's past work. Joe said Dixon began to ramp up his attacks online and falsely claimed Joe blocked his attempts to get funding for his record label. In response, Blackburn told TMZ Joe filed "a baseless lawsuit in an effort to soften the blow of what's to come. It won't work. Fat Joe has a lot of explaining to do."
Tacopina sent Blackburn a cease-and-desist and claimed Blackburn's actions were part of "a criminal extortion scheme orchestrated by an attorney who a federal judge recently condemned for abusing the court system to harass and pressure defendants."
"Mr. Cartagena will not be intimidated by fabricated claims, lies about witnesses, or shameless threats," Tacopina said. "We are taking immediate legal action to expose this fraudulent scheme and we will hold all parties responsible fully accountable.β
Fat Joe clearly isn't playing games when it comes to his reputation.
