Mike Epps says the long-awaited fourth installment of the Friday franchise finally got the green light.

The seasoned comedian stopped by The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, March 4, to talk about the "We Them One's Comedy Tour" and other interesting topics. During their conversation, Charlamagne Tha God asked if Ice Cube had approached him about Last Friday. Epps, who played Cube's cousin Day Day in the last two films, said they finalized the deal but hasn't seen the script yet.

“Cube called me the other day and said, ‘We just finished the deal.’ So we doing Last Friday,” he replied.

"I haven’t seen the script but I’m pretty sure it’s good," he continued. "And we gonna bring in the new comics. We gonna bring the DC Young Flys and all of them in with the OGs and it’s gonna be a good ass time.”

The fourth installment of the Friday franchise has been in the works for years. Ice Cube created the films but Warner Bros. owns the publishing rights, and they've got the final say when it comes to future films. The rapper-actor has been doing everything he can to revive the plans for Last Friday and even wrote two screenplays for it. During an interview with Mike Tyson in 2022, Cube said he wasn't sure if the film would ever come out. Now it seems like there's a chance it will finally see the light of day.

“Hopefully we can get Chris Tucker in it," Epps said. "We need to get Chris Tucker in that because people still love Chris Tucker. He’s still Smokey. He laid it down. He positioned me to do it. Chris, if you listening: we need ya, baby boy. Come on back!”
