GloRilla just made a major donation to her old high school, and they thanked her by chiseling her name into the institution's history.
On Wednesday, December 18, the "Yeah Glo!" rapper surprised her alma mater Melrose High School in Memphis by popping out with a huge check for $25,000. The massive donation will go towards improving her former school’s educational resources and the construction of a brand-new library. According to a press release, the upgraded media center will be "designed to promote literacy, featuring updated technology, flexible seating, and a comfortable, collaborative learning environment for students."
As a token of their appreciation, the staff at Melrose High thanked her by chiseling her name into the institution's history. The school announced that they decided to name the library after her. Melrose High School's new library will forever be known as "The Gloria H. Woods Media Center."
"Bought my first piece of land in my city today along with giving back to my high school I graduated from & they named their media center after me 🥳God is good & life is great 👏🏼I’m so thankful !!," Glo wrote in a social media post.
GloRilla made the major donation a few days after she dropped her brand-new Christmas song "Xmas Time" featuring Kehlani. On the song, Glo drops hard-hitting raps about how she wants to spend the holiday season while Kehlani croons about what she wants for Christmas.
"It's that time of the year to get exactly what you wishin'/It's time to be around all the ones that keep you lifted," Glo raps. "It's time for all the hugs and the mistletoe kisses/Not me 'cause I'm a P, but good luck with your missus/This as merry as I'm gettin'."
