Nicki Minaj gave fans a taste of what to expect from the deluxe edition of Pink Friday 2.
The Barbz flocked to Minaj's Instagram Live on Tuesday night, August 20, and heard some "new little vibes" from Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded. Minaj previewed a few songs that will be on it like "Okay," "Mamita," which will feature more artists, and "Anxiety." After she played the latter track, Minaj explained that she wrote "Anxiety" while she was pregnant with her son. She revealed that she started working on the song the same day she cooked up the hook for the album's outro "Just The Memories."
"'Another day of anxiety/I hate this society/How do you expect me to maintain my sobriety/If i’m not your cup of tea, okay there’s variety/I miss all the rappers that are dead now' — that's what I said," Minaj explained. "I just left it and I never came back to that. I never came back to it until a couple of days ago. So I just wrote up the verses."
Elsewhere in the live stream, Minaj also debuted an unreleased collaboration with Drake. The upbeat vibe has Drizzy back in his singing bag over another island-inspired instrumental. She also played her contribution to Camila Cabello's "Hot Uptown" featuring Drake. Although her version wasn't included on Cabello's album, Minaj still showed the singer some love on her livestream.
Later on, Nicki Minaj played more songs that will appear on the album including a song with Heavy On It artist Lourdes and a fresh collaboration with the late Juice WRLD called "Arctic Tundra." After she asked fans for their thoughts about the song, Minaj explained why she thinks it deserves to be on the album.
“It would be incredible for me I think to have Juice WRLD on this album,” she explained. “Because before he passed that’s what we were talking about. He recorded a bunch of stuff when he was in my studio but I don’t like to exploit people, and people’s deaths and stuff like that.”
Nicki Minaj hasn't confirmed the release date for Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded. However, she did say fans can expect a change in the setlist during the next phase of her "Pink Friday 2 World Tour" with supporting acts BIA, Skillibeng and Tyga. Watch the entire livestream below.
