Cardi B has filed for divorce from her husband Offset.
According to a report Page Six published on Thursday, August 1, the couple's split was "a long time coming" after they grew apart over time. Sources with knowledge of the situation told the outlet the break-up had nothing to do with the cheating rumors that have plagued the couple over the past few months. The source told TMZ that "They're just disconnected from each other." Bardi has been open about her feelings about Offset throughout the course of their marriage, but she basically told fans she outgrew their relationship when she initially dumped 'Set back in December.
"The last time I got on live I wanted to tell you guys but I didn’t know how so I changed my mind," she said at the time. "But it’s been like this for a minute now. I want to start 2024 fresh and open. I’m curious for a new life, a new beginning.”
After she declared they broke up in December, Cardi B and Offset were spotted together with their family during the holidays. Since then, they spent the past few months working things out. They hit the town in Miami for New Year's and had a romantic dinner together on Valentine's Day. Despite sharing two kids Kulture and Wave, the couple continued to drift apart. Cardi B has already hired a divorce attorney and is seeking primary custody of their children.
“They’ve grown apart," a source told Page Six. "That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else. This is something she wants to do.”
This is the second time Cardi B has attempted to split from Offset. Back in 2020, the New York native filed for divorce but eventually withdrew the paperwork. Now, it's clear Cardi B is serious about the split and won't back down.
