Metro Boomin is speaking out after hackers from Toronto turned his life upside down.
On Tuesday afternoon, the St. Louis native took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and told his followers he just got his phone number and other accounts back after scammers from Drake's hometown apparently took control of his devices. Metro said his problems started two days before his joint with Future WE DON'T TRUST YOU was released. He was bombarded by random phone calls from numbers with a 416 area code. Then, two days after the album dropped, MB found himself locked out of his iCloud and lost all cell service.
"It all started 2 days before the album dropped and all these 416 numbers would call me back 2 back a million times," he explained. "It got so bad I had to keep my phone on airplane mode."
"I woke up 2 days after the album dropped with my phone saying I was signed out of iCloud and I no longer had service on my phone," he added.
From that moment on, the hackers had access to everything from social media accounts to text messages. He described an instance where a rep from Balenciaga had confirmed the hackers attempted to order over $23,000 worth of clothing, shoes and purses. They also had his incoming purchases, like items from Tyler The Creator's recent collaboration with Louis Vuitton, rerouted to an address in Houston. According to TMZ, Metro filed a police report in Atlanta.
Their invasion continued on X where they allegedly impersonated him in now-deleted posts. One message in a particular accused some artists of being "scared to post the album." Some fans believed it was a dig at 21 Savage, who previously worked with Metro but hasn't said much about the album since it dropped. The post fueled the discourse surrounded the tension between MB, Future and Drake after Kendrick Lamar unleashed his bombshell verse on "Like That." However, the seasoned producer emphasized he didn't write "those corny ass tweets."
Metro Boomin's fans are convinced the hack job was retaliation from Drake's team, especially now that MB and Future have a No. 1 album. As of this report, the investigation into who hacked his phone is still underway. See what else Metro had to say below.
