Boosie Badazz Walks Out of The Color Purple Due to Lesbian Love Story

On Tuesday (Jan. 2), Boosie weighed in on The Color Purple remake, released in U.S. theaters on Christmas Day. The Louisiana rapper mentioned that he watched the movie with his daughters but could not bare to stay until the end.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), he wrote:

"I HAD TO WALK OUT THIS COLOR PURPLE MOVIE ( N TWO OTHER OLDER COUPLES WALKED OUT ALSO.)… BECAUSE I HAD MY LITTLE GIRLS WITH ME N IT SEEMED LIKE A [rainbow emoji] LOVE STORY GOOD ACTING BUT WHOEVER WROTE THE SCRIPT IS PUSHING THE NARRATIVE HARD AS A PARENT I WILL NOT LET MY LITTLE GIRL WATCH THIS FILM."

The newest version of The Color Purple features Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, Gabriella Wilson "H.E.R.", Halle Bailey, and other iconic Black creatives. The rendition’s star character is Celie, who, after being impregnated by an abusive husband, discovers the strength to break free through a romantic connection with a female jazz singer.
