Officers responded to a scene expecting guns and bombs but instead, they found no threat.

According to NBC New York, Tasia Morales texted fake tips to 9-1-1 about a woman in possession of a gun at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove on January 2nd, 2023. In addition, she lied about seeing an explosive just after 4 PM on Sunday, according to Suffolk County Police.

"The exact wording was 'help there's a bomb at the mall near the Barnes & Noble,' as well as 'help, Alexa has a gun,' said Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison.

Morlaes is a 28-year-old employee for one of the stores at the mall and was both arrested and charged. In terms of all visitors, no one was evacuated during the search.
