The rustic metal under the black gun seems to be an item people aren’t too aware of; the vajra is a legendary ritual weapon and it holds symbolic meaning throughout multiple cultures and religions (including Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism). To those who do know about this item's history, the revelation was shocking and intriguing.
Though some internet users are joking that the guns may be full of nuclear bullets, they’re actually props! One is a Diamond Back .357 from favored video game Deus Ex: Human Revolution and another is a replica of late George Washington’s flintlock pistol circa the Revolutionary war-era, homed in a box emblazoned with the famous Emanuel Leutze painting. Some people know about these props while others don't, so the word about Elon's imitation-shooters is still being spread.
After posting this shocking photo, Elon Musk points out that “there is no excuse for my lack of coasters” amongst another comment.
