Tems' Afrobeat fingerprints are all over the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
Tems herself contributed a cover of Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry" to the soundtrack and co-wrote Rihanna's contribution, "Life Me Up." She tells Gabe Pabon at the Powerhouse NYC Interview Lounge Powered By Hennessy and Valentino that the Black Panther sync was an honor.
"I was writing in general for Black Panther," she says. "...They gave us the direction. They had some words on the song already. Ludwig [Göransson] also composed it; we all collaborated and brought it together. ...I think Chadwick [Boseman] was obviously a special person all through. And it's an honor to be part of something that remembers him."
