With her upcoming EP “Yung Everything” on the horizon dropping on August 6th we got to sit down today with rapper, creative and so much more Deto Black about the EP, her new singles, Nicki Minaj influence on her career + More!!
When it comes to her new EP Deto’s main goal is put out a project that shows every single side of her. Explaining that with this debut projects she wants people to realize that everything doesn’t have to be so serious, while also wanting woman who listen to the album to also feel empowered by the music.
“Im basically trying to, it’s a little bit of everything, it shows all the sides of me, I don’t follow a certain style, or anything I just kinda did what I like and what my taste is and it all me and different sides of me, the general idea of it is your allowed to have fun like everything doesn’t have to be serious, you can do anything you put your mind to, I just want girls to feel empowered by the music”
Early on in her life to Deto Black credits Lil Wayne as one of her biggest influences. Growing up she had begged her mother to take her to one of his shows and when that day finally came, at the show she was introduced to Nicki Minaj’s music for the first time and the rest was history. Explaining how she became such a huge fan of her almost immediately Deto also credits Nicki as being one of the biggest influences on her career.
“I was like 11 or 12, and I beg my mom to take me to this Lil Wayne concert and she did, this rapper was there and came out and it was a female rapper I was like who is this, turns out it was Nicki Minaj and that was my first introduction to Nicki Minaj as soon as I went home I changed my name on MSN to Nicki Lewinsky”
