Today on On The Radar we sat down with Brooklyn Rapper HDBeenDope after he dropped off his latest single “Best Out”, a clear declaration that he is here to stay in the rap game and is already gearing up for what is set to be a huge second half of 2021 as Rolling Loud NYC and his new albums grow nearer. Stopping by the show the rapper spoke about all this including his latest project “BrokeN Dreams” and touring overseas with Portugal The Man pre-pandemic.
When it came to his new single “Best Out”, HD wanted a record that he could come out the gate swinging after. Both a tease of what's to come and showing how far his music has grown over the past few years, he explained the meaning behind wanting to make a statement before dropping his next project.
“For me it was a statement piece more than anything, even my name, been dope it everything “Best Out” is. On my first mixtape or some point in time the line was “Fuck the new artist title, HD been dope” and I needed a Twitter name and that’s how it became my rap name, but for me been dope really stems from me knowing this was possible before anyone else believed in me”
HD will be joining a plethora of incredible rappers hitting that Rolling Loud NYC festival stage this coming fall. While performing at Miami’s festival previously this will be the first time the young rapper will be taking the stage in his hometown and he plans to not disappoint.
“I’m crazy excited its one of those things, I don’t even know how much time I have in my set, but I’m in a place where I’m like, how much time do I have to perform, performing is my favorite s--t, making music in general and I like to perform, those two things are the highest s---, I’m hyped as f--- to get on stage”
