Big shoutout to our people in the North! Today on On The Radar we were joined by Canadian rapper Shaqisdope. Shaq who just recently dropped off the album “Dark Days Ahead” & his new single Baddie (Break Her Heart) has been taking Canada by storm! Sitting down with us today Shaq spoke about his new music, how he actually linked up with Shaquille O'Neal and shared a crazy story from his youth when 50 Cent’s "Get Rich or Die Tryin" dropped.
Canada’s lockdown was nothing to play with, with much of the country forced to stay completely inside their homes for the past year Shaqisdope was put in a tough situation not being able to work in the studio and get to create the way he would want to. However during this time he was able to create his “Dark Days Ahead” album, which served as a look into the good and bad things he was going through.
“this project just came about during COVID I was just kinda in that state at first where I was like this is just a terrible year so far and that was kinda the mood I was in and I wanted to create something that had that kinda vibe of what's going on, and like I said I always try to take the good with the bad and shed a light on certain things going on in my life”
Shaq also had the pleasure of linking up with Shaquille O'Neal a few years back to work on a record that actually became a diss track to ANOTHER Shaq, Big Shaq from the UK. Sharing a bit about how they met Shaqisdope explained that this was a situation that he had manifested since he first started rapping in High School.
“I manifested that situation I remember being in Highschool when I started rapping and telling people that Shaquille O'Neal was going to rock with me because of my name and because im fire, I just kept picturing the scenario in my head and you can really manifest anything”
