Andrew Yang conceded this morning in the New York City Mayoral race in a statement made via his Twitter account. Yang was originally seen as one of the frontrunners in the race but over the past few months, Yang's favoritism died down, and was no longer seen as the potential victor falling behind in the polls.

"Thank you to everyone who supported me and Evelyn in the campaign to help New York! Love to you all. It was truly a people-powered campaign that broke records along the way. Thanks for making history alongside us. There’s a long road ahead and I am looking forward."

With New York City using the ranked voting system for the first time, his first-place votes will be distributed to voters second option candidate if necessary.

As of last night (Tuesday, June 23rd), Eric Adams was in the lead for the Democratic Mayoral race.
