Mary J. Blige is currently gearing up to release her brand new documentary named after her debut album "My Life" on June 25th with Amazon Studios. The documentary is set to show a whole different side of the legendary singer in the creation of the classic project that propelled her to stardom. Stopping by the Angie Martinez show today Mary spoke about the doc, how the late Andre Harrell was like a father figure to her, and what people can expect from season 2 of Power Book 2.
With "My Life" the album holding such a special place in the hearts of fans around the world Mary's main goal with this documentary was to bring fans back to that feeling of when the project was first released while also helping fans understand some of the things that she was going through at the time, good and bad. Last year the music industry lost one of its greats with Andre Harrell's passing. Mary expressed to Angie how Andre had always been like a father figure to her in the industry and would always make sure that she stayed on the right path even when things would be getting tough. Since he was such a big part of Mary's life, the documentary is dedicated to Andre.
With "Power Book II: Ghost" season 2 coming very soon, Mary was able to share a bit about her character and her journey this next season. While not being able to say much Mary expressed that Monet is going to be even MORE of a savage this time around!
