In a first for On The Radar we got to link up with our guys from across the pond A1 x J1! The story behind the young star's success is a true lockdown tail. Thanks to a video chatting app called house party the two rappers randomly met up online one day, while becoming friends they both realized they had a passion for music through freestyling on their IGs. Shortly after the two-recorded “Latest Trends” and upon release the song has garnered MILLIONS of plays on DSPs, 12 Million views on the official video, and two remixes with the UK version having Aitch attached and American having our guy A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. Explaining to us the chance encounter the two guys expressed how crazy it that it hasn’t even been a year since they met that this has happened to them.
"We didn’t know each other, basically, on the app house party, you can join random people to chat, So I decided to join A1, how it works if you have the same friend you can join each others room, we gladly had the same friends and now we just have a brotherhood”
With a charting record in the UK of course the next logical step would be to bring the biggest record to America. Thanks to the assist from A Boogie who hopped on the remix the guys are hoping that audiences in America will come to grow and love the song that has already taken over the airwaves in the UK.
“Shoutout A Boogie man! We haven't gotten to speak to him just yet, he heard the song though, he loved it he laid his verse down and we loved it, we turned up in the studio when we heard it. Our management team played us the song and we were like oh oh, and then we heard Boogie and we looked at each other and we started dancing, it was an amazing moment for us”
