Journey Montana is one of the newest rising singers out of Harlem. With the recent release of her single “Selfless” generating some major buzz we sat down with the singer to talk about her music, development in the game + more!
Journey is only 18 years old but is no stranger to the music business as her father was once a singer and she has been in artist development since she was about 7 or 8 years old. Already coming a long way being at one time part of a girl group the singer broke down to us her whole journey from realizing she wanted to be a singer to now!
“I've been in artist development since I was like 7/8 and like I always wanted to be a singer since I could talk, my dad was a singer too so its in the family. When I moved to Atlanta for a few years that’s when I really started getting serious I was building my fan base, making singing videos, I was actually in a group for a few years, and that played a big role in my artist development and really started recording a lot once I turned 14.”
With the release of her “Selfless” single back in February Journey wanted to come into 2021 hard! The single which was recently featured in a Beats headphones commercial celebrating Black History Month has amassed over 200,000 views on YouTube and growing daily!
“Im 18, it’s the top of 2021, we’re starting fresh and coming hard. I took a moment to pause I was dropping singles back to back to back, at the end of 2020 I paused, put out a Christmas song and then I was like Im going to come back and come hard, the video was in the works for a second and it was a very detailed process in coming back and coming strong”
