Paris Hilton Dishes About Her Engagement On 'This Is Paris'

Paris Hilton got engaged and on This Is Paris, her new podcast, she dishes all the juicy details about fiance Carter Reum’s proposal, from a fake-out in Bora Bora to the private island where he eventually surprised her with a huge custom diamond ring on the beach; members of their families even jumped out from behind palm trees to celebrate the moment. Alongside her co-host, Hunter March, she interviews Carter about how he asked her father for permission, why he thinks their quarantine relationship was good for them, and what he thinks their future holds. Plus, Paris’s “7 Sliving Questions” and listener mail!

Carter describes himself as “old-fashioned,” so he didn’t shop with Paris for the ring. Instead, he “picked up cues along the way – and i don’t know if I picked up cues or she dropped them, but either way, they were noted!” – and worked with a designer to create the ring Hunter says she “must have caveman-dragged in here.” He also received her father’s permission to propose before he popped the question. And he caught Paris’s eye when she saw “how cute I was with my adorable mother” at Thanksgiving: His father died suddenly a few years ago, so he and his brother are “always holding her hand or checking on her, making sure she’s sorted.” Paris confirms it, saying: “You can tell a lot about a person from the way they treat their mother.”

It might seem weird that their “first date” was a Thanksgiving dinner with both their families, but the two have known each other for 15 years. Even so, they describe that Thanksgiving as “love at first sight.” Their romance blossomed in quarantine because “we’re just best friends, we love spending time together,” Paris says. “It’s been the best year of my life.” Carter jokes that a Covid relationship should be measured “in dog years,” because it feels like they’ve been together longer than 15 months “in the best way.” Plus, they’re ready for a family, already toying with baby names and talking about twins; something Carter knows about Paris that would surprise everyone; and their pet peeves about each other – hear all this and more on this episode of This Is Paris.
