Today West Coast Singer Rayven Justice is dropping his new project "Still Sliding" featuring Too Short, Jim Jomes, YBN Nahmir, Pacman Da Gunman, Sada Baby + more! Stopping by On The Radar we got to chop it up with Rayven about the project including the legendary Chaka Khan sample that he has on "Doggin", sampling Nelly's "Ride With Me" for "ride" getting Jim Jones and Too Short on the same track + more!
Two of the singles leading up to this project were “Doggin” featuring Sada Baby & “Ride” with Yungeen Ace. Both records in their own right sample Chaka Khan’s "Aint Nobody" and Nelly's "Ride With Me". When it came to sampling these iconic records Rayven Justice expressed that it was all just inspiration from music he has loved growing up and wanted to flip it and put his own spin on it.
Shoutout Sada Baby, he came here from Detroit blessed me with the verse, and attacked it we had fun with that thing. We just whipped that thang up and threw it out, Im just paying homage to the legend”
With this project, Rayven also brought together a West Coast legend and an East Coast Legend for his “Gutta Baby” record. While getting Too $hort and Jim Jones may seem like an impossible task Rayven was able to pull it off with some help connecting the two coasts on one epic record.
“Honestly bro I don’t know how I pulled it off, it happened from different sources of life I feel. Shoutout to DJ Carisma she knows Jim, she said she would send it over to Jim and I didn’t think it would happen. I was with Too $hortshout out to Uncle short, as I was playing him the record, she emails me the session with Jim Jones verse on it, we popped it up and we heard magic, shout out to Carisma and Jim Jones I cant wait to shoot the video for it”
Before signing off Rayven expressed that this project is different from anything he has put out in the past and he went way deeper in his bag on this one to really give the people something special.
“This one I just wanted to really dig in my bag, go deeper and really give a different kind of me and I just hope that everybody sees that and reciprocates that"
