Frank “El Medico” Rodriguez On Grammys, Working With Calle 13, Daddy Yankee

We recently chopped it up with six times Grammy-nominated and triple platinum engineer/producer Frank “El Medico” Rodriguez who is currently gearing up for the final weekend of the latest online music festival helmed by Red Bull “Estados Unidos De Bass”.

The producer has worked along with the likes of Daddy Yankee, Wisin y Yandel, Don Omar, Calle 13 + many many more. Starting off as a travel agent in the early 2000s he soon realized that he wanted to do something in music, going to school and working his way through the ranks. After earning his nickname “El Medico” after fixing an issue at a studio he was visiting he would go on to work on Calle 13’s second album “Residente o Visitante” which earned him his first Grammy back in 2007.

“Around that time that Calle 13 was working on a second album they wanted to work at a real studio and I knew how to use a real studio. So they roped me In and I started working on the album that got nominated and won a bunch of Grammys”

Since then he has gone on to win multiple Grammys, start his own label, and enter different genres of music including frequently collaborating with the likes of Diplo.

He is currently curating the final weekend of Red Bull’s “Estados Unidos De Bass” festival, which is a celebration of Latinx music from coast to coast! You can watch the live stream this weekend here.
