Goyo On The Importance Of Afro Latina Visibility In Music, Latin Grammys

After being revealed to be one of the Latin Grammys 2020 "Leading Ladies in Entertainment" we got to speak to Gloria "Goyo" Martínez of ChocQuibTown about the importance of her becoming the first Afro Latina to receive this title, how important it is that Afro Latinos/as get more visibility in the industry, what's next for her group Chocquibtown + more!

Every year the Latin Recording Academy announced their leading ladies of entertainment which has become an initiative that honors women in the industry that have made significant contributions and who are inspiring the next generation of female leaders. Goyo who is already a two-time Latin Grammy nominee became the first Afro Latina to receive such an honor from the recording academy. Speaking with us she expressed that she is HONORED to have received such a prestigious award and that she wants all women who are coming up in the industry to look at her and know if she can do it so can they.

As for the future of Chocquibtown, you can expect a ton of more music to come from the group. Explaining that she is excited to surprise fans with their new chapter of music she also expressed that she would love to collab with some Hip-Hop & R&B legends such as Nas & Mary J Blige.
