Lil Yase has died at the age of 25.
According to multiple outlets, the Bay Area rapper was shot and killed on Saturday (November 28). He was found dead in the East Bay region of California about an hour and a half after he left a recording studio near San Francisco around midnight, TMZ reports. Insiders told the outlet, Yase told his crew he'd be right back. However, about an hour and a half later, they were informed about the fatal shooting.
Police believe Yase, whose real name is Alexander Mark Antonyyo Jr., may have been shot near the East Dublin BART Station. Officers responded to a report around 1 a.m. on Saturday that a person with multiple gunshot wounds had arrived at Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton, California. The up-and-coming rapper was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, California, where he later died from his injuries.
Lil Yase's label Highway 420 Productions confirmed his passing on Instagram, writing, "We appreciate all the love and support. Yase loved his fans, he worked every day for y’all. We have hundreds of songs coming for you. Please repost and share let the world know who the 'Top Dog' is ..."
Insiders told TMZ, Yase's inner circle is shocked about his death as they claim the rapper had no known enemies, and "had done nothing they can see leading to something like this."
On Friday (November 27), Yase posted a photo of himself to Instagram with the caption, "If my n**** trippin den I’m trippin it’s up wit UNK😤😈 #HappyThanksGivin🦃."
Rest in Peace, Lil Yase.
