R&B duo THEY. (Drew Love & Dante Jones) first bursted onto the scene touring with Bryson Tiller back in 2017, since then the duo has gone on to release multiple projects and with their latest outing “The Amanda Tape” dropping this Friday 10/23 the duo is taking their sound to a new level. Over the past couple of months THEY. have been dropping consistent singles with huge features from the likes of Tinashe, Wale, & Juicy J who they say was a bucket list moment for them.
“That was done remotely, it was a huge bucket list moment for us, listening to three 6 mafia growing up, it was just a huge bucket list moment going around, we had the song, we had an open verse and we were like who better to fill it then the king himself, he gave us one of the best verses on the whole project”
The story of how the Amanda the tape came together actually come from girls that the guys have had relationships with. Dante who is married to a woman named Amanda and Drew Love dated a woman named Amanda during the duration of the projects creation. Speaking a bit about why this makes the tape special is that it explorers the various highs and lows of relationships, marriage, breakups etc.
“Its obviously a story, Dante’s wife is named Amanda, the girl I was dating for the duration of creation of this project was named Amanda, I feel like everyone has their own Amanda, the relationship Dante has with his wife versus the relationship I have with my Ex are two different relationships but we’re able to still create one cohesive project that talks about a relationship form start to finish, the goods the bads, the highs the lows. Hopefully for everyone who listens to it will represent one of their relationships whether it be in their past or current relationships.
