There have been various reports over the past couple of weeks that the Washington Redskins were considering changing the name of their team. Days ago the team announced that they would be doing a "thorough review" of the name and what direction that the team should go moving forward. Today the team announced that they will no long be known as the Washington Redskins and that they will be changing their name with current owner Daniel Snyder and head coach Ron Rivera having a close hand in working on the new name.
"That review has begun in earnest, As part of this process, we want to keep our sponsors, fans and community apprised of our thinking as we go forward. Today, we are announcing we will be retiring the Redskins name and logo upon completion of this review."
Good on the team for finally denouncing the Redskins name.
