Rest In Peace Amanda Blaze 🙏🏾
We have learned that popular NYC/Miami DJ Blazita has passed away. As of right now, there's no word on the cause of her death which was shared by DJ Sussone on his Instagram page on Sunday May 10th.
DJ Sussone:
I got some horrible news today. R.I.P. to my friend @djamandablaze. She was such a good person & great DJ. We had so many great times. We also helped each other out a lot. Sleep well my friend. 🙏
A close friend who Blazita called her "quarantine crew" confirmed the news via another Instagram post in which she asked that "since all of this is still very new" folks allow time for the family to process their loss.
Originally from Cleveland, OH, Blazita brought her talents to NYC early in her career and took the club circuit by storm with her amazing smile and pink crates. Not relying on sex appeal or gimmicks, she rose to the top thanks to her SOLID DJ skills and infectious personality.
"I felt like if I wanted to do this DJ thing seriously, the only place to do it was New York, that's where everything goes down" she said during a Vlog about her career done back in 2012. "You're a DJ in New York, a lot of my family is like really impressed by that" she continued.
In 2008, Blazita won a Justo award for “Best Female Mixtape DJ” and in 2010 she won “Best Female DJ” at the Latin Mixx Awards. Blazita’s own favorite mix series known as the “Sex & The City: R&B Classics” was nominated for 2 awards (Best Blend mix, Best Slow Jam mix) at the 2009 Southern Entertainment Awards.
DJ Blazita was featured on mix radio shows on Sirius Hip Hop Nation, Sirius Shade 45, HOT97 and internet stations DTF Radio and A-List Radio. She is survived by her son, Jalen.
