NYPD Issues Dozens Of Summonses For Breaking Social Distancing Rules

While New York had its first real warm weekend of the year, many in the city took it as an opportunity to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. While that's fine, many of those same New Yorkers did not follow the social distancing guidelines in place crowding NYC parks over the weekend.

In a joint press conference with Mayor Bill De Blasio on Sunday New York Police Commissioner Dermot Shea broke down how many summonses were given out over the the weekend:

"In parks specifically yesterday, we issued 43 summonses,” he went to explain that three people has been arrested, adding on “I would just reiterate that we had tens of thousands of interactions with people all across the city yesterday, most of them without having to issue any type of enforcement activity, whether it’s a summons or arrest. New Yorkers are exhibiting extreme patience for the last few months. We’re going to ask for a little more of it.”

We can do this everyone as things get warmer we have to continue to follow the guidelines in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and keep everyone safe.
