The mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Carmen Yulin Cruz, was recently on MSNBC and said that not one person in the U.S. territory has received a coronavirus stimulus check despite most people in Puerto Rico meeting the criteria to receive the stimulus check.
Mayor Yulin Cruz said several other federal promises have been delayed: they have 130,000 unemployment applications that have not been answered and all new requests for food stamps are backlogged.
As of Wednesday, 1,300 people have been infected with the virus and 83 people have died from it. The lockdown has been extended in Puerto Rico until May.
