Pres. Trump: “We Lose Thousands To The Flu. We Don’t Turn The Country Off."

White House Coronavirus Task Force Holds Daily Briefing

President Donal Trump told FOX News today that he would love to have the country "open by Easter" which is Sunday April 12th and brought up stats concerning the yearly flu deaths to justify his position.

President Trump:
"We lose thousands and thousands of people a year to the flu. We don't have to turn the country off...I'd love to have it open by Easter...I will tell you that right now. It's such an important day for other reasons, but I will make it an important day for this. I would love to have the country open up, and they are just raring to go, by Easter. I think it's possible. Why isn't it? We've never closed the country before."

Earlier today, President Trump took to Twitter to say that the American people are ready to go back to and will do their part to practice social distancing.

President Trump:
"Our people want to return to work. They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together. THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE (by far) THAN THE PROBLEM! Congress MUST ACT NOW. We will come back strong!"

Do you think it's too soon to try to "open the country" back up?
