Active Shooter Reported in Jersey City, New Jersey, SWAT Team Responds

Police are responding to an active shooter situation in Jersey City, who has reportedly hit two officers in what law enforcement described as an "ambush".

Sources say an individual with a long gun, may have been firing from a bodega located on Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Avenue. The situation is extremely serious, and details are still rapidly developing. Schools in the Greenville area (southern area of Jersey City) has been locked down. Frank Walker told News 4 there were definetly there was gunfire near one of the schools in his PS 29 district shortly after 12:30 p.m. and all of the schools in the immediate vicinity (roughly 12) were shut down. All students are safe, he added, and parents are being informed of the developing situation. The county's SWAT team has responded and may have to use a "BearCat tank" to get to the shooter.
