It Is Now The Law To Hold A Moment Of Silence On 9/11 In NY Public Schools

U.S.-NEW YORK-9/11-17TH ANNIVERSARY

Eighteen years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Governor Cuomo is making sure young students don’t forget the lasting impact the attack had on New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation requiring all public schools to hold a moment of silence every year on September 11th — making remembrance the law, CBS New York reports.

Cuomo says he’s putting the law in place to encourage dialogue in classrooms and to ensure that future generations are knowledge of the events that occurred on September 11th, 2001.

Cuomo also took to twitter to honor the people who were affected by the attacks.

“By establishing this annual day of remembrance and a brief moment of silence in public schools, we will help ensure we never forget — not just the pain of that moment but of the courage, sacrifice and outpouring of love that defined our response” Cuomo stated in a press statement.

The law takes effect immediately.
