The 20-year-old college student behind the plan to storm Area 51 is now saying that the idea was just a joke. In case you're not aware, area 51 is the top-secret Air Force facility long associated in the public mind with extraterrestrials and UFOs. Understood? OK now we can move on 😂
Last month, Roberts launched a Facebook page he called “Storm Area 51 They Can't Stop All Us" and more than 1.2 million people RSVP'd to “storm Area 51" via the Facebook event. But now the man is backpedaling and saying that it was all a joke and he doesn't "want anybody to get hurt with this" and says the FBI never contacted him or came to his home.
While the FBI didn't pull up on him, the Air Force is taking the page seriously and issued a warning: "The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets."
