Nike Pulls Kicks After Colin Kaepernick Expresses Concern

The 2019 Met Gala Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion - Arrivals

According to the Wall Street Journal Nike was set to release the Air Max 1 USA on July 4th which featured a U.S. flag with 13 white stars in a circle, a design created during the American Revolution.

But after Images of the design surfaced online, they say that Colin Kaepernick reportedly reached out to Nike company officials expressing concerns about the flag being offensive due to its connection to an era of slavery.

The NFL star-turned-activist reportedly told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive, according to people familiar with the matter.

Nike had reportedly shipped the shoes to retailers nationwide, but asked that the shoe be returned to them and not be sold.
