Drake Mocks His Sports 'Curse' After Raptors Win Playoff Series

What Drake curse?

On Tuesday (April 23) the Toronto Raptors advanced to the second round of the NBA Playoffs after defeating the Orlando Magic while in the presence of the one and only Mr. Drizzy Drake. Now, some might ask why is that last little fact important? Well, as any sports fan can tell you, many in the sports world have deemed Drake the one person you don't want rooting for your team, given his sports fan stats, which we'll get into a bit later.

For years now, when Drake snaps a photo with a player from a given team or is spotted wearing the team's gear that team loses, sparking the saying known as the "Drake curse." The truly unfortunate, but somewhat accurate, theory hasn't been lost on Drake. So much so, he decided to tempt fate and mock his alleged curse after the Raptors won while in his presence Tuesday night.

"Drake to the media on his way out of the building. 'You want me to talk about the curse or you guys good?' ", Toronto Raptors NBA Beat Reporter Josh Lewenberg tweeted after the game.

Given the significant amount of "circumstantial" evidence — No. 1 seed Alabama lost to the Clemson Tigers in 2019 after Drake repped Bama gear. Conor McGregor lost his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018 after Drake supported the UFC fighter at his weigh-in. I'll just stop there — the fact that the Raptors walked away with a W is quite surprising. Just this month the "Drake curse" was accused of plaguing French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain after Drake took a photo with PSG player Layvin Kurzawa two days before a championship match. Not only did the club lose, it was also their worst loss in ten years!

The curse has become so well known around the world that teams have even started to try and get ahead of it. Earlier this month, Italian soccer club AS Roma joked that they'd banned all their players from associating with the "In My Feelings" rapper until the season was over. "All Roma players banned from taking photos with Drake until the end of the season," the club tweeted on April 15.

For those of you looking for more evidence of the "alleged" curse, you don't have to look far. In fact, there are entire Twitter threads dedicated to teams/people who have become so-called victims of the "Drake curse." Check a few out below!
