The BX is in the building this week on the 'The 212 Come Up' show we had Star Smilez pull up on us!
Talking about what she thinks you need to make it as a big artist in NYC she said, "Because On what she thinks it takes to become the next big artist On what it takes to become the next big artist out of New York she said "because its so many different artists in new York, but kinda the same, i thin its just really being yourself, I'm different you'll notice that in my music, being yourself is the new IT thing, you look at artists now their all kinda similar in some way, you stand out now by being yourself". Going on to say that you also have to represent something, whether it's being a mother, a struggling New Yorker.
Star spoke about how her music is really big on story telling, a lot of what she creates draws from the energy of the city and the everyday struggle.
'The 212 Come Up' presented by AT&T goes down every Sunday at 10 PM EST, All music played on the show will be New York based and will include tracks from both independent artists and certified New York hip-hop GOATS. `
