Angie Thomas is set to venture The United States on a fifteen city tour to promote her newest book On The Come Up. This follow up to the well loved The Hate U Give novel has come just in time for the fans who were starting to fein for something new from Thomas.
The tour is scheduled to launch on February 6, 2019. That is just one day after the publication of the novel. The tour will stop in New York on this day and our very own Angela Yee will be there in person as well! Yee will lead the discussion and speak with Thomas about the newest novel. The tour will conclude in Thomas's hometown of Jackson, Mississippi.
With the film adaptation of The Hate U Give being so successful, fans have brought nothing but expectations for this newest composition. Thomas's On The Come Up is said to be an ode to hip-hop through a literary medium.
A brief summary of the plot: The main character, a sixteen-year-old named Bri, wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Or at least win her first battle. She is the daughter of an underground hip hop legend who died right before he hit big. Bri pours her anger and frustration into her first song, which goes viral…for all the wrong reasons. Bri soon finds herself at the center of a controversy, portrayed by the media as more menace than MC. But with an eviction notice staring her family down, Bri doesn’t just want to make it — she has to. Even if it means becoming the very thing the public has made her out to be.”
We will be looking forward to hearing all the raves, reviews, and comments on the come up.
