Today out in South Africa, the Global Citizens Festival is going down with performances by Beyoncé and JAY-Z, Pharrell and Ed Sheeran, and numerous others. Usher is also reportedly scheduled to perform. Comedian and “Daily Show” star Trevor Noah will host the event.
Since 2012, nearly 16 million actions by Global Citizens have helped generate commitments and policy announcements from leaders valued at over $37.9 billion. These commitments are set to affect the lives of more than 2.25 billion people with interventions that range from vaccinating a child to providing one year of education. These things will ultimately help these individuals to lift themselves out of poverty.
