#HispanicHeritageMonth Artist Spotlight: Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez, born (July 24, 1969) to Puerto Rican parents in The Bronx, has become one of the biggest Latin stars across all media including music, film, fashion, and dance! Starting as a Fly Girl on "In Living Color", the star got her first leading role in a major film when she portrayed Selena Quintanilla in the 1997 biopic of the same name. Since then the Puerto Rican superstar had gone to star in a plethora of movies including "Anaconda", "The Wedding Planner", "Maid In Manhattan", and most recently "Hustlers"! Thanks to her leading role in the Selena biopic, Lopez became the first Latin actress to earn one million dollars for a movie.

One the music side of her career J. Lo released her debut album "On The 6" in 1999 which featured the top 10 hits "If You Had My Love", and "Waiting for Tonight". The project also showcased the diversity of Lopez' music styles blending Latin music, pop & R&B. Shortly after she released her sophomore project "J. Lo" (2001), which made history as becoming the first female artists signed to Epic Records to have a number one in the united states since the label began in the 1950s. Since 2001 the singer has released 6 other studio albums all bolstering their hits and continuing to show the diversity of the superstar.

In world media Lopez joined Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte for the official song of the 2014 Fifa World Cup, also performing the song in Brazil during the tournament. This past year Lopez joined Shakira for one of the most epic halftime shows in history with a ton of her hit songs and paying homage to her Puerto Rican heritage during the performance.
