Jay-Z Nominated for GLAAD Award

The world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, GLAAD, has just announced the nominees for their 29th annual Media Awards. Rapper, Jay-Z is said to receive a special tribute at this years ceremony, for his music video “Smile”. The track featured on his latest album 4:44  shared the story of his mother, Gloria Carter, coming out as a lesbian.

The visual shared a detailed depiction of Jay-Z’s childhood, growing up in New York City during the 70’s. Hov raps about his mother reveling that she was a lesbian, despite having multiple children. The video shows the emotions of Jay-z as a young child.

The 29th annual GLAAD Media Awards goes down April 12, 2018 in Los Angeles. The GLAAD Awards honors television shows, movies, music, and films of the LGBT Community and their hard work.
