Sunday, June 25th the 2017 BET Awards will reportedly be honoring the late Prodigy, of Mobb Deep. The legendary Queens emcee passed away last week after his latest show in Vegas, due to complications with sickle cell. Prodigy passed away at the age 42. According to TMZ, BET plans to pay tribute with performances by another Mobb Deep member, Havoc and rapper Lil Kim.
Mobb Deep and Lil Kim previously collaborated on the 90’s single “Quiet Storm” Remix. The pair is also expected to share some personal stories and words about the late rapper. Allegedly BET Executives fought to put together a larger tribute but had little time. Due to commitments from artists who’ve already signed contracts, BET decided not to add anyone else to the line up. TMZ has reached out to see if there are any new changes, but has received no word back.
Tune into the BET Awards, June 25th at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
