Mass Transit:

  • Underground portions of the New York City subway system will remain unaffected tonight 
    • "A" trains are not running between Rockaway Blvd and Broad Channel
  • Long Island Railroad service is suspended (will resume Sunday morning)
  • NJ Transit has suspended all bus, River Line, and Access Link services. 
    • Service is expected to resume later today. 
    • Rail service, Newark Light Rail, and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will remain on regular weekend schedules for as long as conditions allow. 
    • Cross-honoring is in effect for rail, light rail, NJT bus, and private carriers.
  • Metro-North is operating hourly service on its Harlem, Hudson, and New Haven lines
    • “Very limited” service is running in Connecticut.
  • NYC Ferry service suspended until further notice
  • Amtrak has canceled much of its service along the Northeast Corridor today
  • Public transit buses will not be running today in Connecticut.
  • Alternate side of the street parking is suspended through Tuesday.

Flight Cancellations:

  • Over 1,000 flights have been canceled at JFK, Laguardia, and Newark

Blizzard Warning for Central and Eastern Long Island(from Islip Eastward to Montauk and all of coastal Jersey) until 7 pm this evening......

Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until midnight

Today - Periods of snow and windy. High 23F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. 1 to 3 inches of additional snow expected. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Tonight - Some clouds this evening will give way to mainly clear skies overnight. Low around 10F with sub zero wind chill values possible. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

Tomorrow - Sunny. High 24F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

Tomorrow night - Partly cloudy. Low 14F. Winds light and variable.

Winter Storm Warning until 7:00 pm tonight for NYC, Queens, Brooklyn, Western CT, and all of North and Central NJ. Additional snow accumulation of 5 to 8 inches with wind gusts to 45 mph is expected through this afternoon.

Blizzard Warning for Central and Eastern Long Island(from Islip Eastward to Montauk and all of coastal Jersey) until 7 pm this evening. Snow accumulation of 10 to 15 inches and wind gusts over 50 mph.

Coastal Flood Advisory until midnight

Today: Windy with heavy snow. High 23F. Winds NNW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 100%. 5 to 8 inches of snow expected (10-15" in the areas under the Blizzard Warning). N winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph with some gusts near 60 mph across Eastern Long Island/SE CT.

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT AT 7PM FRIDAY THROUGH 7PM SATURDAY for Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, western Connecticut, and all of northern and central New Jersey.

Blizzard Warning in effect for central and eastern Long Island (from Islip to Montauk) and coastal New Jersey. Wind gusts could reach 50+ mph in those areas.

Expected snow totals:

  • Total snow accumulation of 5 to 10 in NYC
  • 10 to 15 inches of snow is possible for eastern Long Island and the Jersey Shore, which are under Blizzard Warnings.
    • This is the first Blizzard Warning in the NYC-area in four years.
  • Snow is expected to be 6 inches or less for areas west of NYC

Tonight: Periods of snow. Low 19F. Winds NNE at 15 - 25mph, with occasional gusts over 40mph. Chance of snow 100%.

Saturday: Snow in the morning will transition to snow showers in the afternoon. High 22F. Winds NNE at 15 - 25mph, with occasionally gusts over 40mph. Chance of snow 100%. Snow accumulation expected between 5 - 10 inches in areas under Winter Storm Warnings and 10 - 15 in areas in Blizzard Warnings.
